Informative essay: analytic
Background & Rationale
This assignment was also during the Fahrenheit 451 unit. I was asked to pick a theme that occurred throughout the book and write a paper explaining how the theme is shown. I ended up using the dichotomy knowledge vs. ignorance. I used characters in the book to explain why knowledge was power over ignorance.

I organized my paper so that all of my evidence and support made sense while I tried to explain how the author used ignorance in the book to highlight knowledge. There were many quotes to support my ideas and to explain knowledge and ignorance in the book. Between each paragraph I used different transitions so that my paper would read through smoothly and formally. My paper was focused on the one dichotomy of knowledge vs. ignorance and I used a lot of evidence to prove my thesis statement. I also resubmitted my paper as many times as I needed to in order to meet all of these standards.
Reflection
Although I have written many papers like this, I have never based a whole paper on a dichotomy. I actually did not even know what that was before I started my paper. It was a different kind of writing because I was always comparing two different characters to prove my thesis statement. Something that I struggled with was trying to find enough evidence to support my ideas. Although I knew the information and quotes were somewhere in the book, I had trouble finding them and explaining how they helped me. I also struggled with the conclusion because I kept wanting to repeat everything. Something that was easy for me in this paper was the introduction. I was able to create a thesis statement very easily.
